Turkish Airlines announced its first traffic results for 2019

Turkish Airlines, which has recently announced the passenger and cargo traffic results for January 2019, recorded 79.5% Load Factor in this month. On top of the strong base effect of the same period last year, growth in revenue per kilometer has come into prominence as an important indicator of the positive demand environment for Turkish Airlines in 2019. According to the January 2019 Traffic Results, the total number of passengers carried in January 2019 was 5.7 million and load factor was 79.5%, while domestic load factor was 87.1% and international load factor was 78.3%. International-to-international transfer passengers (transit passengers) went up by 5.2% compared to the same period of last year. Likewise, cargo/mail volume continued the double digit growth trend, and increased by 14.9% compared to the same period of 2018. Main contributors to this growth in cargo/mail volume were Europe with 21%, Far East with 13.7% and N. America with 11% increase. Also, Far East showed load factor growth of 1.4 points, while N. America increased by almost 1% compared to the same period of last year.

Inauguration of Zoo Education Centre

On February 19, Central Zoo witnessed the inaugural ceremony of Field Marshall Sir John Chapple Education Centre, which was inaugurated by Mr. Shakti Bahadur Basnet, Minister for Forest and Environment and Chairman of National Trust for Nature Conservation (NTNC). British Ambassador HE Richard Morris represented Sir John Chapple. Other prominent attendees included Dr. B.N. Oli, Secretary, Ministry of Forest and Environment, Dr. Chiranjibi Prasad Pokhrel, Project Manager of NTNC, Central Zoo, and Mr. Jyoti Prakash Pandey, CEO of Nepal Investment Bank Ltd. Central Zoo recorded 1,159,114 visitors in fiscal year 2016/17. The membership- based program, ‘Friends of Zoo’, which is a conservation education program for school children, has a membership of about 80,000 students from 123 schools inside Kathmandu Valley. Given these data, Central Zoo is keen on improvising existing tools of interactive media, audio-visual system, and bio-facts and preserved specimens that would not only enhance the visitor experience, but also prove to be an effective research tool.

Qatar Airways Welcomes a Glittering Opening of the Doha Jewellery and Watches Exhibition 2019

Qatar Airways welcomed the glamorous opening day of Doha Jewellery and Watches Exhibition (DJWE), held under the patronage of the Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior of the State of Qatar, His Excellency Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al Thani. The exhibition was officially opened on February 20. In attendance were the Minister of Finance and Chairman of Qatar Airways Group Ali Shareef Al Emadi, Minister of Transport and Communication Jassim bin Saif Al Sulaiti, Qatar Airways Group Chief Executive Akbar Al Baker, and other VIP guests. This spectacular exhibition took place from 20-25 February at the Doha Exhibition and Conference Centre (DECC), featuring more than 500 international luxury brands displaying some of the world’s finest gemstones and jewelry collections and watches, along with special editions and unique pieces.

8th Himalayan Outdoor Festival 2019
