After rounds and rounds of discussions and going through the menu ten times, apparently, we always end up ordering the routine momos and chowmein. But, this time around, we wanted to make an exception, so we went with the chef's choice of his best dishes.

When hungry, just wander around the alleys anywhere in Kathmandu and you will definitely find eateries that offer you delicious and hygienic food.The most unexpected alleys lead you to the most amazing places you never knew about, just like our discovery journey to the Hungry Hour Lunch Bar in Kamaladi, opposite to Heritage Plaza. When we first arrived at Hungry Hour, I was delighted by how the place was so petite and cozy. There were customers rushing in and out, regular customers sure about what they wanted, and new customers like us wondering what to try.

It is always a struggle deciding what to eat when I am at a new place. After rounds and rounds of discussions and going through the menu ten times, apparently, we always end up ordering the routine momos and chowmein. But, this time around, we wanted to make an exception, so we went with the chef's choice of his best dishes.

The lunch started off with Penne Pasta with Red Sauce, a very cheesyand tasty starter. This was definitely a cheesy dish, which I can't complain about because I love anything cheesy. This dish reminded me of my vegetarian friends, who would have loved the delight. This pasta is a simple way to bring Italian flavors to your table and is a hearty, filling, meal. The complaint I have with pastas cooked in red sauce is always that they are too tarty, which overpowers all the cheese flavors. The good thing about the pasta served at Hungry Hour was, I tasted cheesy fulfilling pasta with just the right amount of tart in it. The cheese in the pasta was also not lumpy, which made it easier to serve. It had tenderly cooked pasta;this simple, healthy dish enticed our hunger and left us wanting more.

Next up, we were served Chicken Spring Rolls. To be honest, I am not such a big fan of spring rolls for the bad oily spring roll experiences I have had in the past. But, I was delighted when the spring rolls served here were less greasy and more stuffed with chicken and noodles. The spring rolls here were served with French fries and salad.This was probably the best spring roll I have had at any restaurant recently. They were perfectly cooked, super crunchy, and not at all greasy. The filling, the most essential part, was perfect, and just the right amount. And, yes just one plate of spring rolls will do all the fulfilling if you are a picker.

Then, it was Grilled Chicken Breast with Rice and Veggie, the main course,alarge slice of chicken breast served with cream sauce, mushrooms, and vegetables served over rice. This dish was served hot, with plain rice and veggies cooked in white wine sauce, and garnished with boiled and seasoned fresh veggies like green beans, carrots, cauliflower, and lettuce. The chicken breast was tender and juicy. The white wine sauce completely changed the taste of the chicken breast and the whole dish. If only at home, I would have licked my plate clean. The chicken breast was so good we ate it clean on our plate.If you are tired of eating sandwiches or momos every day, this makes a good lunch that is tasty and warm. This dish isalso great for throwing lunch or dinner together if you are short on time.It looks appealing and tastes mild and flavorful. This was quite a fulfilling dish for lunch.

A Caesar Salad is actually atableside preparedsalad of romaine lettuce and croutons dressed with parmesan cheese, lemon juice, olive oil, egg, sauce, garlic, and black pepper. This salad's creation is generally attributed to restaurateur Caesar Cardini, an Italian immigrant who operated restaurants in Mexico and the United States. Our chef brought the typical Italian taste to our table with the final Caesar Salad. This crunchy refreshing salad has a zippy zesty dressing that provides a burst of flavor with each bite. Its major specialty is that, it perks up any spring or summer meal.This was my favorite dish of the day.

I found the Hungry Hour Lunch Bar's menu new and refreshingas compared to the regular eateries in Kathmandu. It is where you can take your friends for brunch, lunch, or dinner. This place also has a bar, as well as live music every Friday, and is perfect for groups or couples who prefer a quieter and cozier place to relax and enjoy. The service is quite good, with servers who are polite and efficient with cleaning up the empty plates so more can come. So, next time you are around Kamaladi, make sure you try the dishes we devoured at the Hungry Hour Lunch Bar. I bet you will love it!
