A short but memorable event was held to welcome the 7th Young Conservation Ambassador - Miss Nepal 2012 Shristi Shrestha. The event also commemorated Miss Nepal 2011, Malina Joshi for her outstanding service towards conservation during her term as the 6th Young Conservation Ambassador for WWF. During her term, Malina Joshi hiked to Gosaikunda, visited and learned about the Indrawati Sub-Basin Project and also contributed to the anti-poaching campaign in Bardia. "This is not a farewell speech, but rather a thanksgiving note to all the employees of WWF Nepal for accepting me, encouraging me, and teaching me about conservation," said Malina Joshi. In her acceptance speech as this year's Young Conservation Ambassador, Shristi Shrestha said that she looked forward to working with WWF Nepal and was thankful for being provided a year long journey to learn about the holistic approaches of WWF Nepal towards conservation. She will mainly be involved with Snow Leopard conservation projects. The event was also graced by Anil Manandhar, country representative for WWF Nepal and Gopal Kakshapati, Chairman of Hidden Treasure Nepal. All of them agreed upon the fact that even though being a formal Conservation Ambassador is a one-year commitment, all of them would go beyond their one-year term to continue their conservation efforts.
