Be it on national or international platforms, Miss Nepal World 2017 Nikita Chandak has never failed to amaze us. This has definitely been her year, winning many hearts with her charisma, contagious confidence, and intellectual aura, and we expect more from her in the future. Nikita and Fr!day sat down to talk about her life and her outlook on 2018.

Will we see a new Nikita in 2018? How would that be?
I, myself, am looking forward to what 2018 has in store for me. I would not say a new person, rather, a better individual is what I have grown to be through my experiences in 2017. Moreover, I hope 2018 would be a year similar to 2017, but definitely bigger and better.

You made the country proud by reaching the top 40, and also performing well in the Head to Head challenge, and you have a much bigger fan base now. How do you plan on

using this fan base as an advantage to what you plan on doing?
I am really grateful that I have earned more followers now. Using the platform of Instagram to express and share my thoughts, whether it may be just small stories of mine, or just a quote for motivation, makes me feel wonderful, and that’s how I take it as an advantage. Therefore, freedom of expression among such a huge number of people has definitely been beneficial.

What sort of sacrifices did you have to make to reach this position?
I wouldn’t consider any of the activities I did in the past as a sacrifice I made to be here today.

How was the experience of the Miss World pageant? What challenges did you face, and what did you learn?
It was quite a learning experience for me being with such beautiful personalities from all around the world. I think, as always, the challenge is more of coping with the mental pressure than any other issues. Nevertheless,  I came back learning a lot of things, but the most important lesson I learnt at the end is, ‘Let go of things that wasn’t meant for you.’

What makes you so confident?
I think my calmness is my greatest strength, which is what makes me appear confident.

Are you satisfied with the motivation and encouragement your Nepali supporters provided to you? Especially, the voting trend on social media was so viral…
Satisfied would meet the description of the feeling that I have regarding the incessant support and love that I have received. Actually, I would say it was much greater than what I had expected. Not only did the support I was receiving amazed me, but it astonished many other delegates and interviewers there, as well.

In what profession will you be in the future?
I have always been mentioning my passion towards acting and how it has always been my dream career, so I hope you all get to watch me on the big screen in the near future.

What can we look forward to from you in the coming year?
Such questions have a tendency to make me go speechless. The year 2017 was a completely new year for me in every aspect. It was unpredictable, yet very beautiful. I just hope I will be able to do good work that makes me proud, and also my followers, in the upcoming year.

What message do you want to share with the youth out there for whom you are a great source of inspiration?
I would say, “Believe in the beauty of your journey and keep going.”
