Nepal Tourism Board celebrated its 13 year of success at a cultural function at its premises in Bhrikuti Mandap. Nepal Tourism Board was established in 1998 as a national organization through an act of the parliament in the form of public private partnership between the Government of Nepal and private sector tourism industries of Nepal. With the aim to develop and market Nepal as an attractive tourist destination, NTB has been conducting various programs such Visit Nepal 1997, and the recent Nepal Tourism Year 2011. Speaking at the function, Minister for tourism and civil aviation Lokendra Bist Magar appreciated the role played by the NTB in promoting Nepalese tourism and added that the organization had to do more for the development of the Nepalese tourism industry. Highlighting the achievements of NTB in promoting tourism industry in the past, Dr. Ganesh Raj Joshi, secretary at the ministry of tourism and civil aviation, said that the board had to take more responsibility for the development of the industry. Subash Niraula, officiating CEO of NTB stated, "The greatest achievement of this year's campaign was that everybody came to realize that tourism is not an individual's business but everybody's business." He also added that campaigns are continuous efforts and just not one-time events, for which we need to not only look at it professionally but also constantly make it happening.
