Change Fusion Nepal organized the first ever social entrepreneurs' award ceremony: the Surya Nepal Pvt. Ltd. Asha Social Entrepreneurship Award 2011. The event was sponsored by Surya Nepal and supported by National Business Initiative (NBI). The award ceremony had Ashoka fellows, Anil Chitrakar and Vineet Rai, as guest speakers for the evening. At the award ceremony, nine finalists were showcased as job creators - social entrepreneurs whose efforts and credibility had not only changed their individual lives but also supported the livelihood of many more. The nine finalists were judged on their personal grit, vision and passion alongside their project's sustainability, innovation and impact. Out of the nine, five were awarded the social entrepreneurship award by Sanjeev Keshava, managing director for Surya Nepal. The five winners were Ram Sapkota from Mountain Delights Treks & Expeditions and Tukee Nepal Society), Sabita Maharjan from Kirtipur Hosiery Industries), Chhahari Services, Vijaya Development Resource Centre, and Shyam Badan Yadav from Kalash Milk Industry). Each winner received a cash prize of Rs. 100,000 for funding their respective projects.
