The New Faces of Tibet
The Siddhartha Art Gallery at Babarmahal Revisited is open to art lovers
wishing to catch a glimpse of the works of Andrea Lopez Iglesias titled 'The
New Faces of Tibet'. This exclusive exhibition transcending beyond colors
attempts to portray the past and coming future of Tibetan families using the
faces of the present. The exhibit will remain open till the 24 May.
"This new venture started about a year back although the idea had been in my
mind for the last two years. I had been visiting Nepal on a project as a painting
volunteer when I came across the lifestyle of Tibetans and learned a lot about
Buddhism. That's where my true inspiration lies." said the Spanish artist who
claims to have undergone great revelations and changes following her stay at
the gumbas in Pokhara. In her latest work, she has painted 14 Tibetan refugees
across different regions of Nepal with diverse backgrounds. In 'The New Faces
of Tibet’, she has not only succeeded to present the people on canvas but also
produced their stories in writing which are also present at the back of every
painting. Likewise, the exhibition also consists of 13 sketches of children studying
in Nepal as Tibetan refugees under Snow Lion Foundation Nepal. Tenzin Rabgyal,
Education Officer of the organization that takes care of education of Tibetan
refugees was also honored as the special guest of the event.
