Earth Day Celebrated
An exhibition of photographs and paintings was held on 22 April at Siddhartha Art Gallery to celebrate Earth Day. The paintings for the competition "Under the Bodhi Tree" were inspired by Lumbini and created by 12 Nepali artists to blend conservation and the Buddhist philosophy of interconnectedness and interdependence. The photographs for the competition "Earth and You" reflects Nepal's journey in conservation and the challenges it faces from climate hazards. The event was hosted by Pallavi Dhakal. David C. Atteberry, the Mission Director, USAID Nepal, was the chief guest for the event. The event organized as a collaborative effort of WWF Nepal and Lumbini Development Trust will see to utilizing the proceeds from the sale of the paintings in order to plant trees for the Million Trees Project under the Green Lumbini Initiative. The participants of the competition were awarded with the certificates and vouchers. The art exhibition will be on display till 6 May.
