Two Solo Exhibitions Combined
Over 60 paintings collectively by Binod Pradhan and Bhairaj
Maharjan have been put up for display at Siddhartha Art
Gallery at Babarmahal Revisited. In an official inauguration
ceremony held on 5 June, at around 5.30 p.m., the latest
works by these two eminent Nepali artists were officially
opened to the public. Inaugurated by Dr. Ghana S. Gurung,
Conservation Program Director, WWF Nepal, the exhibition
will remain at the gallery till the end of the month.
"In my latest collection, I have tried to describe the
relationship of man and nature, our connection to the
environment and portray the importance of balance in
nature." said Pradhan. To break the monotony of a single
collection from an individual artist, the gallery combined two
solo exhibitions to include Bhairaj Maharjan's works as well.
Quite different from the nature-themed works of Pradhan,
Maharjan's works were more spiritual and inclined towards
Buddhism. "Ever since the conflict period in our country, I
started working on something to find eternal solace. With
this aim, I painted a Bhikshu entitled 'In search of Peace'. With
time, my collection only kept increasing with similar paintings
in my search for peace."said the artist. Also open for sale, the
paintings were priced between Rs. 10000 to Rs. 80000.
